July 04, 2004 - London

Happy Fourth of July!  They don't celebrate it as much here as in the USA.  Go figure.

Today was our day for the British Museum, which is a 5-7 minute walk from our hotel.  Despite spending almost two hours there, I guess we didn't see everything.  Here's the front entrance (allow for some distortion in the splicing of photos) and a sampling of our experience inside.

Not us, for once.

After the British Museum, we had a special treat: meeting Sheila's step-sister Liz and her two boys, David and Michael, whom we took to. . .Harry Potter.  Because of the video surveillance and publicized warnings, I can't show you any of the movie (which was great) (excuse me, Brilliant!) but here are some shots of our out-of-theater experiences.

All in all, it was a great day, capped off by a quiet dinner in a vegetarian Chinese restaurant about 5 minutes from the hotel.  Tomorrow we are scheduled for a Thames tour of London, with a British sociology colleague.
