July 22, 2004 - NYC

     As I said in yesterday's journal, I hadn't decided whether to continue daily reports on our trip or go back to monthly summaries as of our arrival in New York.  My indecision was remedied by my computer--which died suddenly.  More accurately, the computer refused to recognize its own hard drive and run the boot-up files located there.  In short, it became a doorstop.

     Since it happened late in the day, I went to bed with no functional computer on the trip.
