As this month closes, I can see summer at the end of the semester. I've
enjoyed doing my
methods course again, but I will be happy to be free of the course
obligations once more.
I intend to teach from time to time in the future, but I'm going to
give it a rest for the
time being.
On the 27th, the Social Sciences held our annual Henley Awards
gathering, and I am
pleased to report that Emily Brubaker earned the
Award for Excellence in Sociology,
making her the leading graduate in our department. You may recall Emily
as Evie and
Henry's friend and sitter in the summer of 2005.
At the Henley Awards, Sociology Chair, Tekle Woldemikael, told the
gathering what
a fine student and person Emily is, and she addressed the gathering
with a moving
account of her evolution (can we still say 'evolution'?) as a sociogist.
Tekle also mentioned that I will be leaving Southern California in
June, taking up
residence in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. I received a nice
acknowledgment.
